Biographical History

Indianapolis businessman, civic leader, and journalist. Fortune organized the Indianapolis Commercial Club with Col. Eli Lilly, and was a director of Eli Lilly and Company, 1916-1927. Fortune's civic and philanthropic activities included the local and national Red Cross, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Peace Society, memorial committees for Nancy Hanks Lincoln and George Rogers Clark, and the donation of land for an Indianapolis V.A. Hospital.
