Oregon Women for Agriculture.

Oregon Women for Agriculture was organized by Mary Holzapfel in August 1969 in response to criticism regarding field burning in the Willamette Valley. The first meeting was held at the Tangent Community Club and attracted over 100 women. Oregon Women for Agriculture is believed to be the first women's agricultural group of its kind in the United States. The mission of the organization is to conduct public education campaigns and lobbying efforts in support of the agricultural industry. It has created and supported several programs, events, displays and presentations in order to achieve its purposes. The group's organization consists of a state board and several county and regional chapters. The state board holds monthly meetings and an annual meeting is held for the general membership. The county / regional chapters consist of Clackamas, Hood River, Jackson, Klamath Basin, Lane, Linn-Benton, Marion, Polk, and Yamhill.
