Biographical History

Frank B. Baldwin was born in Flint, Michigan on February 20, 1920. Baldwin first became associated with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company while in high school when, in 1937, he won a Goodyear farm essay contest. Baldwin attended Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania, but withdrew to enter World War II. He flew in over 186 combat missions in the Pacific and rose to the ranks of Marine Captain. During his military career he was bestowed with the Air Medal, Purple Heart, Navy Cross, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Ultimately Baldwin was inducted into the Marine Corps Hall of Fame. After his military service, Baldwin was appointed to the Goodyear flight operations in 1946. Baldwin was noted for being Goodyear Chairman Paul W. Litchfield's pilot and personal aide which took him on numerous business related trips around the globe. Over his 34 years of service to Goodyear, Baldwin became manager of special projects at the Goodyear Aircraft Corporation in 1956, then manager of astronautics sales in 1959, and finally manager of all sales activity in the undersea warfare market. Frank Baldwin died on April 17, 2004 at the age of 84.
