Biographical History
Anthony M. Solomon was born on December 27, 1919 in Arlington, New Jersey. He received a B.A. from the University of Chicago in 1941, an M.A. from Harvard University in 1948, and a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1950. He was a banker who served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Latin America, 1963 to 1965; Assistant Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, 1965 to 1969; president of International Investment Corporation for Yugoslavia and London, 1969 to 1972; advisor to the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee in the House of Representatives, 1972 to 1973; Under Secretary for Monetary Affairs, Department of the Treasury, 1977 to 1980; and president and chief executive of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, 1980 to 1985.
