American children's illustrator born in Rochester, New York in 1913. Specializing in historical subjects, he illustrated over two dozen books including two of his own.
Artist, illustrator, author; son-in-law of editor Maxwell E. Perkins.
Douglas Gorsline was born May 24, 1913, in Rochester, NY, and died June 25(some say 26th), 1985, in Dijon, France. He followed a career as artist, illustrator, and writer. He received numerous awards for his work, and was the first American artist to receive an invitation from the People's Republic of China to visit that country and paint whatever he wished.
