Biographical History

Founded in 1920, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Des Moines, formerly called the Des Moines League of Women Voters, is a non-partisan organization which provides community education and public awareness on political issues. In 1944 the league lost its charter for endorsing the Republican Party in violation of its tenets, but was rechartered later in the same year.
