Biographical History
Emory Lindquist was born February 29, 1908. He earned a A.B. degree from Bethany College in 1933, and attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. While at Oxford Lindquist earned a B.A. with honors in 1933, and an M.A. degree in 1947. Lindquist earned a Ph. D. from the University of Colorado in 1941.
From 1941 to 1943 Lindquist served as Acting President of Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Lindquist continued as President at Bethany from 1943 to 1953. In 1953 Lindquist was appointed as a university professor and Special Consultant to the President of the University of Wichita. Lindquist continued his service to the University of Wichita (later Wichita State University) as Dean of Faculties from 1955-1961. Lindquist next served as President of the University from 1963 to 1968.
