Oris B. Johnson (b. 1920, Ashland, La,-d. Sept. 14, 1999), U.S. Air Force officer, entered the Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet after graduating from college, and received his commission and pilot wings in 1941. During World War II, he was commander, 422nd Night Fighter Squadron in the European Theater of Operations. After the War, he was assigned to the Tactical Air Command and to Air Force Headquarters. During the Korean War, General Johnson was director of requirements, Directorate of Operations, Far East Air Forces Headquarters in Tokyo. Later, in the 1950s, he held a number of positions with the Aerospace Defense Command. In the early 1960s, he became assistant deputy chief of staff for operations, Air Force Headquarters in Germany. In 1971 he was assigned as deputy chief of staff, materiel, Headquarters Aerospace Defense Command, and he retired in 1973.
General O. B. Johnson served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II. He supervised the development of advanced fighter aircraft and their implementation during the Korean War. He later commanded the Washington Area Air Defense Sector, the 14th Aero Space Force, and the 313th Air Division. After retiring from the Air Force in 1973, Johnson served in several positions in the Shreveport city government and as undersecretary of public safety under the Treen administration.
