Jean Young (1904-1992) served as a council member for the King City, Or. city council for 17 years in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as eight years as mayor of King City.
Jean Young (1904-1992) served as a council member for the King City, Or. city council for 17 years in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as eight years as mayor of King City.
She also was vice-chairwoman of the Multnomah County Republican Party Central Committee and was a delegate to eight Republic national conventions. Young was appointed to the Oregon State Wage and Hour Commission in 1947 and later also served as chairwoman for the Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers. In 1967, she was named the Oregon Journal Woman of Accomplishment and in 1969, the Oregon Republican Woman of the Year. Jean Young was married to Portland attorney Frederic W. Young.
