Biographical History
Raymond F. Vigue was born in Winslow, Maine in 1913. He began work for Hollingsworth and Whitney Co. in 1927. He was employed there until 1951. In 1951, he went to work for Mack Trucks designing highly specialized heavy duty trucks and trailers utilized in off-highway operations. He worked there until 1961 when he was employed by the Maine State Highway Commission as an equipment engineer. In 1967, he was promoted to Director of Motor Transport Service. He retired in 1978, but was a consultant for many firms until January 1998.

The Madawaska Company of Bangor, Maine, was owned by Edouard Lacroix. The company had a contract with the Great Northern Paper Company to transport its pulpwood from the Penobscot watershed to the mills owned by the Great Northern Paper Company. For this purpose the company built the Eagle Lake and West Branch Railroad. Construction work began in April 1926, and the road was in use for the season of 1927.
