Biographical History
Marion Price Daniel (1910-1988) was born to Marion Price Daniel, Sr. and Nannie Blanch Partlow in Liberty County, Texas. After graduating from Baylor University, Daniel worked as an attorney before being elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1938. He was elected Speaker of the House in 1943 and enlisted in the U. S. Army that same year. In 1946, Daniel became the Texas State Attorney General and was elected to the U. S. Senate in 1952. Four years later, he became the Governor of Texas and served for three terms until he was defeated by John Connally, Jr. in 1962. Daniel later headed the U. S. Office of Emergency Preparedness and served on the Texas Supreme Court from 1971 to 1978.
