Biographical History
Lucille Ella Jasinski was born in Detroit on April 1, 1919 to Joseph and Irene Jasinski. Her father worked as manager for First State Bank of Detroit at the time of her birth. He later owned the Joseph Jasinski Travel Bureau, and worked as an insurance agent with Jasinski & Nowakowski, both in Hamtramck. A 1937 graduate of Detroit's Northeastern High School, Miss Jasinski attended Wayne University, where she completed a two-year General Studies program. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science from Rutgers University's New Jersey College for Women, and a Master of Education Degree from Wayne. During World War II she served as a Senior Engineering Aide for the U.S. Army Signal Corps, from 1943-1945. "Miss J", as she was called by her students, taught in a number of schools, from 1945-1978, ranging from Roseville to Royal Oak to Wayne, Michigan. She retired as school librarian from the Webberville Community School District in 1978. Lucille Jasinski died in Southfield. Michigan on March 31, 1993.
