Biographical History
Elihu Marvin was born in 1752 to Captail Elisha Marvin of Lyme, Conn. He taught school and practiced medicine in Norwich, Conn., and in the spring of 1777 joine the 4th Connecticut Regiment under the command of John Durkee (1728-1782). The regiment was organized in early 1777 and served until the reorganization of January 1, 1781, when most of its personnel was incorporated into the 1st Connecticut Regiment. Marvin resigned his commission in the summer of 1778 and returned to Norwich where he resumed his medical practice. In 1793 he was appointed Bridgadier General of the Connecticut militia. He died in 1798 of yellow fever.
