Biographical History
Sydney Brenner Taylor was probably born in 1904 in New York City. She worked as an actress and as a dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. She wrote numerous children's books, at first just for her daughter, that were based on her childhood growing up in a Jewish family with four sisters and a brother on New York's lower East Side. Her books describe the joys and sorrows of the lives of first-generation Americans. Taylor died in 1978. Biographical source: Something About the Author, volumes 26 and 28.
