Biographical History

The Reverend John Seccomb (1708-1792) was born in Medford, Mass., and served as the first minister of Harvard, Mass., from 1733 to 1757 when he was dismissed. He and his family continued to live in Harvard until July 1759, when Seccomb accompanied the first body of settlers to Chester, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. He subsequently settled his family in Chester.

Mercy Seccomb (1743/44- ) was the younger daughter of the Reverend John and Mercy Williams Seccomb ( - ). Her mother was a daughter of the Reverend William (1688-1760) and Hannah Stoddard Williams (1633-1745) and a granddaughter of the Reverend Solomon Stoddard (1643-1729).
