Biographical History
Glenn E. Ullyot was born in Clark County, South Dakota on March 10, 1910. After completing his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and the University of Illinois-Urbana, he accepted employment as an Organic Research Chemist at Smith Kline and French, where he remained for the whole of his career. He retired as Director of Scientific Liaison in 1975. During Ullyot's tenure as Director of Chemical Laboratories (1950-1957) several significant pharmaceutical products were brought before the public, including the anti-depressants Thorazine and Stelazine, the diuretics Dyrenium and Dyazide and the antacid Tagamet. Following a lengthy period of poor health, Glenn Ullyot died at Ginger Cove Health Care Center, Annapolis, Maryland on February 16, 2002.
