Biographical History
Author, historian, educator. Born in 1917 at Perry, New York. Awarded Ph. D. in American History by the University of Wisconsin (1954). Taught history at the University of North Carolina Women's College (1950-1955). Joined the faculty of Texas Technological College in 1955. Served as Professor of history, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and as Interim President in 1979. Graves edited "A History of Lubbock," contributed to "Builders of the Southwest," and coordinated the "Handbook of Texas" project for the West Texas area. Retired in 1983 and has recently begun a biography of U.S. Congressman George Mahon.
College professor and Administrator. Taught history at Texas Technological College in Lubbock, Texas. Served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech University from 1970-1983. This tenure was interrupted for one year when he served as Interim President of Texas Tech University in 1978 and 1979. Edited A HISTORY OF LUBBOCK.
