Biographical History
The Pioneer Reading Club was founded in 1885, and was the first women's club in Grand Forks. The group sought the mutual advancement of its members in general literature, according to its constitution. In 1885, membership was capped at twelve, although by 1900 this limit had been rescinded. Regular meetings were held every Monday afternoon, and usually consisted of the reading and discussion of literature.
