Biographical History
Richard Blackstone was a captain in the 32nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He entered the regiment as a private on July 20, 1861. Blackstone participated in engagements at Greenbrier, W. Va.; Camp Alleghany, W. Va.; McDowell, Va.; Cross Keys, Va.; Port Republic, Va.; Harper's Ferry, Va., where he was captured; exchanged, Jan. 1863; battles of Port Gibson, Miss.; Raymond, Miss.; Champion Hills; siege of Vicksburg; Baker's Creek, Miss.; Kenesaw Mountain, Ga.; Peachtree Creek, Ga.; Atlanta; siege of Atlanta; march to the sea; siege of Savannah, Ga.; campaign of the Carolinas; march from Goldsboro, N.C., to Richmond, Va., and Washington, D.C., "Grand Review," Washington, May 24, 1865.
