Biographical History
John (Bryan Jr.) Gantos, better known as Jack Gantos, was born July 2, 1851, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. He became an author and educator, receiving many awards and honors for his books. Critics consider him to be an insightful observer of childhood feelings and behavior, and a gifted humorist. He is perhaps known for his Rotten Ralph series, about a large, anthropomorphic red cat. He is also known for his Jack Henry books, about a young man in the middle grades.
