Biographical History

The Potts family, descended from Thomas Potts (1680-1752), was a major force in the iron industry of southeastern Pennsylvania during the 18th century. Five generations of this large extended family and its allies by marriage controlled numerous forges and furnaces in Berks, Chester and Montgomery Counties.
