Biographical History
"Figaroa's Army from the State of Guerrero, under the command of Manuel Asunsulo, defeated the Federal Garrison at Iguala and marched to Cuernavaca in the State of Morelos. Cuernavaca had been declared an open city and the Government troops had retired to Mexico City.
Asunsulo took charge but was killed in Mexico City. Zapata, after defeating the Federal troops at the City of Puebla, in the State of Puebla, came to and occupied Cuernavaca. He remained in charge until Madero arrived in Mexico City after winning his revolution.
Madero, after a visit to the City of Puebla, became angry at Zapata after seeing the destruction and looting he had allowed his troops to do while accupying the city and demanded him to disband his troops.
When the Federal soldiers weere returning to Cuernavaca, Zapata, with a few of his followers, left. He went into the mountains of the State of Morelos where he became a bandit and was a thorn in the side of the Government for several years. He was finally ambushed and killed. His head was taken to Mexico City to prove he was dead."
