The Athletic Council's membership included alumni, faculty and undergraduates. The Council approved athletic programs, schedules, eligibility policies, and awards. The Committee on Commencement consisted of the Dean, the Treasurer, the Secretary of the Alumni and four members of the faculty. The Board of Trustees did not formally create the Committee on Commencement until 1922 when it was charged with revising the commencement program. Prior to this, the President, Board of Trustees, President of the Society of Alumni and members of the Committee on Degrees all collaborated on commencement arrangements.
