Biographical History
Theodore Francis Powys was the brother of Lewelyn Powys (1884-1939).
Theodore Francis Powys was a member of the literary Powys family. He left his farm in Suffolk at the age of twenty-six to retire to the small village of East Chaldon and write. Living like a hermit, he wrote novels, short stories, and fables. His works often had rural settings, and were marked by universal themes of good and evil, love, and death; they were infused with the powerful imagery of Powys' unique interpretation of Christianity.
Theodore Francis Powys (1875–1953) was a British author and the brother of writers John Cowper Powys, Llewellyn Powys, and Philippa Powys. He was the author of numerous novels and short stories.
Theodore Francis Powys was born at Shirley, Dorset in 1875. He was educated at Dorchester Grammar School. He published his first work An Interpretation of Genesis in 1908. During his writing career, Powys wrote many novels and short stories. His last novel published during his lifetime was Goat Green in 1937. Powys remained in Dorset for the rest of his life. He died on 27 November 1953.
