Biographical History

A clergyman, journalist, novelist and educator, Fitchett was born in Lincolnshire and arrived in Geelong with his family in 1849. As a Wesleyan minister, he preached in rural Victoria and Melbourne, before heading Methodist Ladies' College for forty years until his death.

William Henry Fitchett was born circa 1841. He was a Methodist clergyman and a prolific writer of popular books, including The belief of Unbelief and How England saved Europe . In 1882, he founded the Methodist Ladies College in Melbourne, Australia, becoming its first principal. He died in Melbourne in 1928.
