Biographical History

The Publicity Department, though formally established by the IUE's constitutional convention in December 1950, had actually functioned since the chartering of the union by the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) in November 1949. Its primary responsibilities were threefold: to carry the union's story to the membership; to inform the general public of the activities of the IUE and the labor movement in general; and to assist IUE officers, depeartments, and local unions in organization and collective bargaining work.
