George D. Prentice was the editor of the Louisville, Kentucky "Courier Journal." He wrote editorials on behalf of the Union during the Civil War. Roger W. Hanson was the Commander of the 2nd Kentucky Infantry. He was captured in 1862 and was imprisoned at Fort Warren. Hanson was later exchanged and went on to become a Brigadier-General. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Murfreesboro.
