Biographical History

Son of George S. Long (1853-1930), operating manager of Weyerhaeuser Timber Company (1900-1930), George S. Long , Jr., joined Weyerhaeuser in 1917 but enlisted in the American Expeditionary Forces in late 1917 and was sent to France as an engineer in Jan. 1918. He saw no combat during his service and returned to the U.S., continuing his employment at Weyerhaeuser where he eventually became corporate secretary, a position he held from 1945 until his death in 1984.
