Biographical History
Anthony Luchek, a graduate of the University of Michigan, was a labor education specialist. Before WWII, he was an instructor at the Institute of Human Relations at Yale University and a Wertheim Fellow at Harvard. He also served as a Labor Economist for the Labor Division of the War Production Board. In 1946, he became the European Representative for the CIO. He directed the Labor Education Program, part of Penn State Extension Services from 1947 to 1959. In the late 1950s, Mr. Luchek conducted week-long labor institute and trade union seminars in British Guiana and India as part of his work as labor education specialist with the U.S. Mutual Security Administration. He also acted as an advisor to the Philippine government in cooperation with International Cooperation Administration from 1952 to 1954 and as a special consultant to the Labor Education Center at the University of the Philippines in 1956. Mr. Luchek left his position as Professor of Industrial Relations at Penn State to become Professor of Labor Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1959.
