Biographical History
William "Bill" Granger was born in Chicago in 1941and grew up on the city's South Side. He graduated with an English degree from DePaul University in 1963 and was the editor of DePaul University's student newspaper, "The DePaulia". Granger made a career in Chicago by writing for both of its major newspapers, "The Chicago Tribune" and the "Chicago Sun-times", and later in his career for subarban Chicago's largest newspaper, "The Daily Herald". With his wife Lori, he co-authored two nonfiction books on the subject of Chicago politics, "Fighting Jane" and "Lords of the Last Machine". Granger also wrote mysteries and suspense dramas, sometimes under the pseudonyms of Joe Gash or Bill Griffiths. In total, Granger authored or co-authored a total of twenty-eight titles between the years of 1979 and 1995.
