Denver, Colo. educator, author. B. Nov. 21, 1857 Salisbury Center, N.Y. Moved to Central City, Colo. 1889; to Alamosa, Colo. 1891; to Denver 1899. With Denver Public Schools 1899-1928. Author of books on the American Indian, as well as poems and songs. His "Where the columbines grow" designated Colorado's official state song 1915. D. Dec. 30, 1930 Denver.
