Biographical History
Henry Blake Fuller (1857-1929) was an American poet, essayist, and novelist. His works include The chevalier of Pensieri-Vani, The cliff-dwellers, and With the procession.
American author.
American novelist, essayist, critic, and satirist.
Henry Blake Fuller was born, grew up, and died in Chicago. As a novelist his writing encompassed two different genres: realistic depictions of the Midwest (The Cliff-dwellers) and fanciful travel romances with European settings. Also an amateur musician interested in architecture, art, and music, Fuller was an active member of Chicago's Little Room and aided Harriet Monroe with Poetry: a magazine of verse. He supported himself by writing book reviews, editorials, letters to the editor pieces, and short stories for various Chicago newspapers and for such national publications as Bookman, Commonweal, and Nation. Fuller was active in the late-nineteenth century anti-imperialist movement, and in 1919, he wrote Bertram Cope's year, a novel with a homosexual theme.
