Biographical History
French financier.
Augeard was a French farmer-general, courtier, and author of a memoir about the end of Louis XVI's reign. He served as private secretary to Marie-Antoinette, whom he urged to leave France early in the Revolution. Augeard was denounced after the fall of the monarchy and imprisoned at Rouen, then liberated. He took refuge in 1795 with his friend George Marye de Merval at Chateau de Mauny, near Rouen.
