Biographical History
Joseph R. DeLuca (b. 1918, Greenville, Pennsylvania), U.S. Air Force officer, entered the Army Air Corps as a private in February 1942 and received his officer's commission later that same year. During World War II he served as commanding officer, Recruit Training Detachment; operations officer with the 44th Service Group; air technical supply officer and statistical officer with the 43rd Air Depot Group in England; supply officer in the Eighth Air Force; and deputy chief of supply for the Ninth Air Force Service Command, serving in Central Europe, Northern France, and Rhineland campaigns. In the late 1940s and 1950s, General DeLuca was assigned to Air Materiel Commands and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, graduated from the Air War College, and later moved into positions in the area of logistics and planning. He was appointed Comptroller of the Air Force in 1973 and retired in January 1976.
