Charles Campbell McCall was born on March 23, 1895, in Causeyville, Mississippi. He attended the Georgia Military Academy, University of Alabama, Georgetown University and the National University, and earned degrees in patent law. McCall married Nell Curtis Cave. He began his military career in 1917 serving in the United States Regular Army, Cavalry. He continued in the Air Force Reserves and later in the Alabama National Guard. He received a commendation for.
Conduct under fire at Zaragossa, Mexico, on November 14, 1917, and served in both World Wars. He worked in state and federal public service, including positions as Attorney General of Alabama and various positions with the Public Works Administration. He retired in 1958. His father, Judge Charles E. McCall, founded the Choctaw County, Alabama, newspaper "Choctaw Advocate" and served as Probate Judge of the same county and State Examiner of Accounts.
