Williamson was a Signer of the Declaration of Independence and a delegate to the Federal Constitutional Convention from North Carolina.

Williamson was an American politician, born in Pennsylvania, who moved to North Carolina after completing his education and represented North Carolina in U.S. Constitutional Convention. He was educated at the College of Philadelphia and took his medical degree at the University of Utrecht.
