Born in Coventry, Connecticut, October 28, 1753; brother of Nathan Hale; graduate of Yale College (1773); Congregational clergyman in Westhampton, Massachusetts (1778-1828).

Enoch Hale, born in Coventry, Connecticut on October 28, 1753, was the brother of the famed Nathan Hale. He graduated from Yale College in 1773 and served as a Congregational clergyman in Westhampton, Massachusetts from 1778-1828. He also served as Secretary of the General Association of the Congregational Churches and Ministers of Massachusetts from 1804-1824, and was Secretary of the Hampshire Missionary Society for many years. He was involved in the educational and public interests of his community and represented Westhampton in the State Constitutional Convention of 1820. He was the author of an English grammar book and a published sermon entitled "Asking Amiss and Not Receiving". He died on January 19, 1837.

Enoch Hale was born in Coventry, Conn. in 1753. He graduated from Yale in 1773 and began preaching in Westhampton, Mass. in 1778. He was pastor of the Congregational Church in Westhampton for fifty years and also served as secretary of the Hampshire Missionary Society, Northampton, Mass., for many years, taking occasional mission trips in that capacity.

Congregational clergyman, brother of the patriot Nathan Hale and son of Richard and Elizabeth (Strong) Hale. Alicia (or Alice) was the daughter of his stepmother Abigail (Cobb) Adams Hale. According to some accounts Nathan proposed to Alicia when he was a student at Yale, but in 1773 she married Elijah Ripley, who died the next year. Later Enoch began courting her, but was unsuccessful. She later married William Lawrence and he married Octavia Throop.
