Biographical History

William Proctor Gould, a native of Salem, Mass., was secretary-aide to Colonel John McKee, who was an Indian agent and later Congressman for Alabama. Gould later inherited McKee's plantation (Hill of Howth) in Greene County, Ala. near Boligee and lived there until his death in 1862.
