Biographical History

President of the New Harbour Company, a joint-stock company formed to promote real estate development in Ohio City (which was incorporated in 1836 and annexed to Cleveland in 1854). The company went bankrupt during the panic of 1836. In 1834, Lord became one of the 3 chief stockholders in the Cuyahoga Steam Furnace Company, the first manufacturing concern in Cleveland. In 1840, he and Josiah Barber dedicated a parcel of land for a public square which is now Cleveland's West Side Market. Lord was the mayor of Ohio City in 1843.
