Biographical History

W.V. Iorns was a hydraulic engineer for the U. S. Geological Survey. He received a C.E. Degree from the University of Idaho in 1929 and a Professional C.E. Degree from the University of Idaho in 1959. He worked for the Geological Survey from 1931 to 1979. He was the project engineer of the hydraulic investigations on water resources of the Bear River Basin, the Upper Colorado River Basin, the Duchesne River Lower River drainage, and the Snake River. He wrote the reports for the Bear River Basin Compact (1941-1958), the Colorado River Upper Basin Compact (1948-1962), and the Snake River Compact (1948-1949). In addition to his work in the Rocky Mountains, he was also concurrently the project engineer on the Pond Creek White-Red Basin, Arkansas Joint Special Study Group (1952), and River Master of the Delaware River (1954-1961).
