Robert Bloomfield, minor English poet, best known for his long poem The Farmer's Boy. His poetry was championed by Robert Southey, and his themes of nature and the common man initially won the approval of Wordsworth and Coleridge -- but Lord Byron and Charles Lamb were less than charitable in their assessments of his poetic worth.
