The Agora , a monthly periodical, published in Abilene, Kansas, originated in 1890 as a quarterly journal under the editorship of Thomas E. Dewey. In 1895, the journal was published monthly, and was managed by Fred B. McKinnon, secretary to Chancellor Francis H. Snow of the University of Kansas. T. E. Dewey remained as editor and the publication office was retained in Abilene, Kansas. The journal was primarily interested in publishing current literary and scientific papers of interest to the general public.
