Biographical History

Autry J. Maroun was a United States (U.S.) Army officer who served in World War II as an infantry officer and later became an officer to the chief counsel of war crimes in Nuremberg, Germany in 1946. He served in Korea in 1952 and 1953. He worked in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel during the 1950s. Maroun was promoted to the rank of major general in October 1961. In 1964, General Maroun was assigned as commanding general of the 5th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. In December 1966, he assumed the post of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Manpower) for Reserve Affairs and in 1968, he became chief of the Military Planning Office, Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) in Bangkok. He retired from the military in 1972.
