Biographical History
The Urban Coalition was founded in 1968 as a response to racial strife in Minneapolis as a non-profit organization with the mission to "increase the capacity of low income, African American, Native American, Asian/Pacific and Chicano/Latino communities to address political, economic, and social concerns that are identified, and to promote the public dialogue through research-based advocacy and policy work."
The vision of the Urban Coalition is "an inclusive community that honors and draws on the strength of cultures and aspirations of its many different peoples where everyone enjoys economic and social justice."
