Biographical History

William Lytle, of Hillsboro, N.C., son of Robert Lytle (1729-1774) and Sarah Mebane Lytle, served in the Sixth, First, and Fourth regiments of the North Carolina Line during the Revolutionary War. He entered as a lieutenant in 1776, and became a captain in 1779. He moved to Tennessee about 1790.
