Biographical History
Thomas A. Marlow was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 9, 1861. He came to Montana and entered the employ of Broadwater and McNamara at Fort Maginnis in 1882. In 1888 he established the mercantile firm of McNamara & Marlow at Big Sandy, Montana, with Cornelius McNamara. He moved to Helena, Montana, in 1893 in connection with the liquidation of the Charles A. Broadwater estate; Broadwater was his uncle, and he was appointed trustee for Mary C. Miller, Julia C. Broadwater, and Mary E. Chumasero, along with the Broadwater Comapny. Later, he became president of the Montana National Bank. In 1931 he became the president of the newly-formed First National Bank and Trust Company in Helena, which was formed through the union of Montana Trust and Savings Bank, National Bank of Montana, and American National Bank.
Marlow served as a member of the Republican National Committee from 1908 to 1920, and served as a director of many corporations, including the Great Northern Railroad, Montana Flour Mills of Great Falls, and the First Bank Stock Corporation of Minneapolis. He died in Helena on March 28, 1938.
