Frances Gibson "Gibby" Satterfield (1908-1992) was a staff member of the Women's Division of the Democratic National Committee from 1938 to 1940 and from 1943 to 1945.
Frances Gibson Satterfield, a native of Raleigh, N.C., received a bachelor's degree in 1928 from the North Carolina College for Women (now UNCG). She later studied journalism at Columbia, and went on to write for various trade journals and general publications on a freelance basis. In 1942, Satterfield composed a booklet entitled Charles Duncan McIver as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of UNCG (founded as the State Normal and Industrial School). She was President of the Alumnae Association from 1947 to 1949, and received the Alumni Service Award in 1971. Satterfield, who spent much of her life in Georgia, was active in many civic organizations, including the League of Women Voters, the American Association of University Women, the Democratic Party and the Girl Scouts. She died in 1993.
