Biographical History

Wilinsky (Baltimore, M.D. 1904; Harvard, M.A.(Hon.) 1941) was executive director of Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Mass. from 1928 to 1953, and Assistant Health Commissioner of the City of Boston Health Department. He served as president of the American Public Health Association and of the American Hospital Association. He was a noted authority on hospital administration and public health. He pioneered in the establishment of neighborhood health clinics, organizing and directing the first such clinic in Boston (the Blossom Street Health Unit) in 1916 and assisting in starting 18 others in various areas of the city.
