Biographical History

The Utah Wool Growers Association came into existence on March 16, 1935. The organizations seeks to improve conditions for farmers in the wool growing industry in Utah. Membership requirements of the Association encourage participation not only of those owning sheep, but of those owning shares of stock in corporations owning sheep as well. Within the state association, members are organized into local associations serving various regions of the State. The Utah Wool Growers Association is one of twenty-two state and regional associations which comprise the National Wool Growers Association. This National federation's primary concerns are the major legislative activities involving sheep producer's interests; support of research in sheep diseases and other industry problems; coordination of the national ram sale; and promotion of wool products through exhibits and contests such as the Miss Wool of America Pageant.
