Biographical History
Llewelyn W. Williams was a Welsh economic botanist and wood technologist who specialized in gum- and rubber-producing plants. Williams collected plants in South America, Mexico, Cuba, Thailand and the Philippines. Williams worked at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago from 1926 to 1952 and the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1961-1967. Williams also worked for several private companies including the Rubber Development Corporation, and Wrigley Chewing Gum Company. Williams authored several books including: "Woods of northeastern Peru", "Forests of Southeast Asia, Puerto Rico, and Texas", and "Vegetation of Southeast Asia: studies of forest types, 1963-1965".
